Dr. Brenna Sakatch has a special interest in animal behaviour. She is passionate about pets and their families interacting with eachother in a way where everyone feels calm and safe.
Behaviour consultations in the home can provide a more in-depth look at factors that influence why an animal behaves the way it does. We can use management strategies to help prevent or modify concerning behaviours.
For pets with potential underlying medical causes of behaviours (such as pain, hormone disorders, urinary issues, etc.) we can collect samples in the home for laboratory testing, and send referrals for more advanced investigations as required.
We follow the AVSAB & ACVB‘s position statements on behaviour, as they follow the most up-to-date science. For pets with true behavioural disorders such as separation anxiety or feline idiopathic (stress) cystitis, we can prescribe medications. We can also provide adjunct therapies to improve the long-term outcomes.
