Veterinary Telemedicine
Dr. Brenna Sakatch is available for telemedicine consultations. This is only for pets she has examined through Snowshoe Home Vet in the past 12 months. The ABVMA requires the establishment of a “veterinary client patient relationship” before telemedicine can be practiced for pets in Alberta.
Telemedicine Examples:
- Phone Appointments
- Email Consultations
- Video Consultations
- Text Consultations
- Concierge Service
What can telemedicine for pets be used for?
- Rechecks of conditions that could be done with a visual exam or short discussion of your pet to assess. Examples include mobility or behavioural case follow-ups.
- You want to have Dr. Sakatch’s opinion on if your pet needs to go to their family vet for something specific.
- You have interest in a certain topic that you would like Dr. Sakatch’s professional opinion on and/or to have her research something for you regarding your pet.
- Home-made diet formulation specific to your pet, in conjunction with a board-certified veterinary nutritionist (for previously diagnosed conditions).
- Concierge service: a subscription-based service that allows for telemedicine access to Dr. Brenna without individually paying for each consult/communication.
New issues are best addressed with an in-home visit. Prescriptions cannot be made for new issues based on telemedicine alone per the ABVMA.
