Mobile Holistic Vet Care
A holistic veterinarian focuses on the big picture & all aspects of a patient’s health. Environment, emotions, nutrition, relationships and disease processes are all enveloped in holistic medicine.
Holistic medicine when done in the home allows a veterinarian to be thorough. In the clinic, it can be difficult to really understand the whole picture of health. Veterinarians only see them for a short while when the pet goes to them.
Holistic medicine does not necessarily imply the absence of medications.
Medications are often needed to ensure a pet is comfortable while we address the root causes of an issue.
A holistic approach to health starts with assessing as many aspects of the pet’s life as possible.
Where do they spend their time? How are they interacting with other pets or people in the home? How are they fed? How are their things set up? How do they move around their space?
Holistic Therapies for Pets
Holistic therapies encompass a variety of treatments. These can include supplements and nutrition. Acupuncture and herbs are also common. Physical practices like exercises and massage are often used. Emotional enrichment activities are important too. Additionally, pulsed electromagnetic field therapy may be used for certain conditions in the home.
Dr. Brenna Sakatch prefers to use all available modalities when they help the pet. She aims to reduce side effects. She can prescribe or give medications in the home when needed in a treatment plan.
